Happy Easter!

Day 2 was a trip to the Zoo. Not many animals were out but the kids managed to find things to do.

Foo throwing a snowball. Yes, the Finns behind us are having a BBQ. What's a meter of snow when there are sausages to burn?

Ice sculpture the boys added to.

Easter morning. The clocks went back so the Weans were up at 5.30am adjusted. Managed to convince them to stay in bed for another hour until Mouse noticed the trail of gummy bunnies leading down the stairs. They were eaten before I could get a photo.

Foo's Easter present, a lioness.

Bump was more interested in the sweeties than searching for eggs.

At least she's willing to share.

Easter breakfast, French Toast with strawberries and chocolate. Could only be improved by someone else cooking and cleaning up.

Hope you and your family had a lovely Easter. Happy Spring.

Easter Bank Holiday

Four days off - luxury. Day One consisted of just letting the kids relax, but we did kick them outside to play in the snow. Mainly to burn off some energy before they began to gnaw each other's arms off in frustration. Must get out today.

There is still a lot of snow as it's been very cold overnight,  something to do with a Polar Vortex or something, but everyday is crawling towards zero so it is melting by tiny increments. Think the Easter Bunny will be hiding his eggs in the snow this year.

Only one casualty in the snow ball war between Mouse and me, Mouse got a graze across his face when a very large snowball actually hit him when I was aiming near him. Aim has never been my forte, all power and no control. Didn't stop him wanting to pummel me with more snowballs.

March Madness

I thought I hadn't taken many photos over the past month or so but then I looked at the camera recently and realised I just haven't been downloading them, so here's a March rundown, with maybe some February photos as well.

This last weekend we made some Easter eggs. It was Palm Sunday, but in Finland the kids decorate willow wands and then go around the houses and wish people luck for the year in exchange for sweets. We didn't have any visitors as our house is set off the road, but we had Mouse's Finnish friend come and play for the afternoon. I don't think he'd ever decorated an Easter egg before and seemed to enjoy it.

Can't turn your back on them for a second

We took a family trip to our favourite museum

Mouse got to practice taking pictures with my proper camera. His subjects are interesting. Though we did have a slight problem on the museum trip with him taking photos of an irate Finn who did not appreciate it and then got annoyed if he took pictures of anything around her. Hard to explain to a 6 year old that you can't take photos of everyone.

Everyone helped make a cardboard bus, but there was some teething problems playing with it until they decided to overturn it and use it as Santa's sleigh.

Note the tear, just couldn't figure out how to hold up the bus and carry the toys he wanted

And we had a science experiment one afternoon. Baking soda and food coloured-vinegar explosions.

Have a good week.
